National hockey team to fly for Thailand May 3

The Bangladesh national hockey team will leave for Thailand on May 3 to take part for their Asian Games 2022 qualifiers scheduled to be held from May 6 to 15 in Bangkok.

Talking to BSS today (Monday), Bangladesh Hockey Federation’s (BHF) acting general secretary Mohammad Yousuf said the team would fly for Bangkok on May 3, three-day before the event and the ongoing hockey’s camp would continue till April 30.

He said after participating in the Asian Games 2022 qualifiers, the team would then move to Indonesia from Bangkok to take part in the Men’s Asia Cup scheduled to be held from May 23 to June 1.

Meanwhile, the players and officials photo session and national team’s sponsor cheque handover ceremony will be held on Wednesday (Apr 20) at Falcon hall of the Air Force base in the city’s Tejgaon.

The national hockey players are now undergoing rigorous training under the supervision of Malaysian coach Iman Gobinathan Krishnamurthy at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan (BKSP) in Savar keeping ahead of the two international events.

Earlier, the BHF announced a 36-man preliminary squad for their Asian Games 2022 qualifiers in Thailand and Men’s Asia Cup in Indonesia.
