Bangladesh suffer 1-5 goals defeat against Malaysia

Bangladesh suffered a huge defeat (1-5) against Malaysia in their 2nd  match of the 10-nation Men’s Junior (U-21) Asia Cup Hockey held in the Omanese city of Salalah on Thursday. –UNB

After the day’s humiliating defeat, the semifinal berth of Bangladesh now became tough and uncertain.

Bangladesh, which made a good start in the 9th edition of the meet shocking hosts Oman by 2-0 goals in their first match, today (Thursday) went down by-0-3 goals in the first half.

Malaysia scored three goals in a row in the 8th, 13th and 14th minute respectively whie  Abdullah reduced rhe Bangladesh margin in the 37th minute (3-1).

Later, Bangladesh conceded two more goals in the 43rd and 59th minute to suffer a huge 1-5 goals defeat

In the remainng group B matches, Bangladesh will play Uzbekistan on Friday (May 26) and South Korea on May 28.

Earlier, Bangladesh have been placed in Group B with Malaysia, South Korea, hosts Oman and Uzbekistan while Group A team comprises of India, Pakistan, Japan,  Chinese Taipei and Thailand.

Top three teams of the ongoing tournament, apart from Malaysia, which is already qualified as the host, will qualify for the FIH Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup 2023.
