Bangladesh national men’s hockey team hope of playing final of the AHF Cup Hockey shattered when they suffered an exciting 5-4 goals defeat to Oman in the semifinal held at GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta, Indonesia today (Friday).
Bangladesh will now play against Kazakhstan in the 3rd-4th place-deciding match scheduled to be held on Sunday (April 27) at the same venue.
In the proceeding, Shohanur scored a brace in the 13th and 54th minute while Ashraful Islam and Obaidul netted one goal each for Bangladesh in the 24th and 38th minute respectively.
Earlier, Bangladesh finished the Pool B champions with all win records in the tournament.
Bangladesh got off to flying start in the tournament beating Kyrgyzstan by 5-1 goals in their opening match and defeated host Indonesia by 3-2 goals in their second match.
Bangladesh eventually emerged as group champions beating Thailand by 2-1 goals in their third match to maintain their domination in the tournament.
The boys in red and green finished the group tourney thrashing Sri Lanka by 5-0 goals.
The AHF Cup tournament will serve as the qualification tournament for the next edition Asia Cup.
